Oxford 3, Unadilla Valley 2
OXFORD – Oxford’s girls’ soccer program took a huge step toward respectability Wednesday night beating Unadilla Valley for the first time in the program’s history.
Coming off a winless season in 2005, the Blackhawks are situated at 2-3 on the campaign. “We’ve always considered Unadilla Valley a solid program, and we’re extremely excited about this victory,” said Oxford coach Kathleen Cragle.
With under 11 minutes to play, Felicia Tynan gathered Katie Whaley’s throw-in and tallied the game winner. Katie Seiler had the tying goal in the second half after UV’s Jenn Convis gave her club a brief 2-1 advantage.
“We started out slow in this game, but we picked it up late in the first half and it carried through the rest of the game,” Cragle said.
