Norwich home damaged by fire

NORWICH – Pratt Road was the scene of a destructive fire early Monday afternoon. Firefighters arriving on the scene quickly extinguished the flames, but smoke continued to billow from the empty holes where windows had been.

Norwich firefighters, led by Jan Papelino, were the first to respond to the call, but because the departments are relying on automatic mutual aid, Guilford and Oxford departments were not far behind. The firefighters quickly contained the fire and were able to put it out.

“We were able to knock it down within a few minutes on the scene. The structural damage seems to be minimal,” Papelino said. The damage applied mainly to the interior of the home and its contents.
