Dollars for Scholars hosts comedy night fundraiser

NORWICH – Norwich Dollars for Scholars is pleased to present a night of fun with Michael Winslow at the Martin Kappel Theatre (formerly the Council of the Arts Theatre), at 8 p.m. Friday.

Winslow is best known for his scene-stealing performances in all seven “Police Academy” movies as Officer Larvell Jones. He is a master of vocal gymnastics, imitating over 10,000 sound effects using his voice alone. Winslow has performed in dozens of movies, both as an actor and providing his vocal talent to characters; he generally performs 200 comedy club shows a yearly. Be prepared for laughter and amazement as you watch Winslow create a multitude of sound effects and funny noises.

The opening act for Winslow will be provided by The Magic of Virgil. Virgil uses a combination of dynamic illusions and non-stop audience interaction to entertain his audiences.

Prior to both performances you are invited to join a Happy Hour celebration in the large tent in front of the Council of the Arts building. Refreshments, sponsored by Benedict Corporation and Leigh Baldwin & Co., LLC., will be served by the staff of the Bohemian Moon; there will also be a cash bar available.
