Grange hosts pie-eating contest at county fair

NORWICH – The Chenango County Fair and the Chenango County Grange co-sponsored an old fashioned pie-eating contest held on Saturday at the County Fair in Floral Hall.

Oxford residents Susanna Colquitt, representing the Smithville Center Grange, and Oxford Grange president Tom Lawton, brought on pudding pies as kids of all ages entered this tasty test of competitive speed eating. There was a ‘no hands’ rule which created a pretty messy situation, but the contestants were permitted to wear plastic garbage bag “ponchos” to protect their clothes. The children chowed down on the pudding as a crowd cheered them on.
