Bricks & Mortar Report: Repairing flood damage

EDITOR’S NOTE: The Bricks & Mortar Report will provide updates every Monday on major construction projects in Chenango County.

‘06 Flood Disaster infrastructure repair:

• After concentrating on repairing individuals’ driveways, county DPW road and bridge crews will turn their attention to county Route 17 in North Afton next. Anywhere from 20 to 80 yards of concrete is required to save that road, DPW director Randy Gibbon said.

• County Route 4 in Preston is next on the schedule because residents are currently forced to detour 12 miles. Gibbon said state conservation authorities recently granted permission to re-route the stream.

• County Route 34 follows next, then Route 34, Route 10A and, finally, Route 32.

Smithville Subdivision:

• Since first announced in October, all but five of the Genegantslet Horse Farms subdivision’s 70 lots have been sold to potential home builders, a spokesman for Unadilla-based New York Land & Lakes, Inc. said.
