In addition to these tasty treats, the bakery will also be giving out gift certificates and coupons to use for your special occasion in the future.

Bakery Owner Kelly Banks has been showing off her talents for years to the community and loyal customers but not everyone knows her story. After graduating in 1997 from Walton High School, Kelly Banks worked for Elena Doyle of Elena’s Sweet Indulgence in Oneonta while awaiting to begin her college career. Kelly went on to graduate from the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, NY, with an associate’s degree in baking and pastry.

“I then moved to Allentown, PA to be with my now-husband, Brian,” said Kelly. “I worked as a Pastry Chef for a caterer, then a restaurant and then a bakery. At the Bakery I was asked to help with decorating cakes. I loved how creative you could be with them. I learned a lot from a friend and coworker from Germany. She was amazing at 3D cakes and icing techniques.”

After the couple had their first child together, Helena, in 2005, Kelly made the decision to stay home and take care of her family. Shortly after, she realized her true potential.

“While still being a mother and wife, I realized quickly I could do my own thing with baking,” said Banks. “I started doing cakes and desserts for friends, many I had met thru catering, and my business seemed to be taking off.”

In 2006, the Banks family moved back to Upstate New York and shortly welcomed their second child, Owen. The family purchased a house in New Berlin, and ‘Kelly Banks Cakes’ has proudly called New Berlin home for nearly 10 years.

But the small town name was soon to hit the big leagues of NFL. Kelly and her husband – being life long New York Giants fans and tailgating at numerous games through all weather conditions – have even built friendships with players on the Giants. The Banks family’s love for the game only grew when their second son, Xander, was born in 2011.

‘Kelly Banks Cakes’ has had the pleasure of making many cakes for NY Giants players including Michael Strahan, Landon Collins, Odell Beckham Jr., Rueben Randle, Larry Donnell, Carl Banks, Jason Pierre-Paul, Antrel Rolle, Stephen Baker, Rodney Hampton, Lewis Tillman, Lawrence Taylor and Jay Bromley.

In addition to taking over the NFL, a couple professional boxers have taken the cake from Kelly including Mike Tyson and Ridick Bowe.

“This past January, Brian finish our year long project: my new bakery,” said Kelly excitedly. “The bakery has been open since January, but I feel many customers don’t realize I have items for sale.”

With a new bakery attached to its household name, ‘Kelly Banks Cakes’ continues to make everything custom and with only the best and most fresh ingredients.

All are welcome to come and visit ‘Kelly Banks Cakes’ this Saturday where Kelly says, “If you can dream it, I can make it!”
