Summer of music in Norwich: First of two Chenango Summer Jams set for Sunday

NORWICH – Summer is officially back this upcoming weekend according to the calendar, and with it comes the return of Chenango Summer Jams concert series – where regional and national acts are brought to the East Park Stage in the heart of downtown Norwich for all to relish.

In just it's third year of existence, Chenango Summer Jams has expanded its offerings to include two separate shows on two dates, sharing the East Park stage as it's hub.

Presented by the Chenango Blues Association and sponsored by various local businesses including Morrisville State College, Preferred Mutual Insurance Company and The Chenango Arts Council; the event has seen continued success thanks to part to additional support from both the Greater Norwich and R.C. Smith Foundations.

Since the inaugural offerings of the 2012 Summer Jams, thousands have enjoyed the B.Y.O.C. (bring your own chair) event, and downtown eateries and merchants alike have welcomed the increased foot traffic.

Attendees are encouraged to support local business while enjoying the free show, but coolers are permitted into the county park – and open container laws will also be observed.

This year, flavors of funk, soul and R&B will on tap and flowing steady this coming Sunday, when event headliner Mingo Fishtrap sets up shop in the middle of Chenango County, a mere 1,800 miles as the crow flies from their home base of Austin, Texas.
