Local art and history converge at arts and crafts festival

SHERBURNE – This year's Sherburne Arts & Crafts Family Festival is a revitalization of an event that was initiated in 1947, by Mariea Brown, former president of the Sherburne Art Society. This is the third year that the Sherburne Public Library has hosted the event and it will take place on June 14, 2014, in Gaines Park, Sherburne.

The festival not only provides a great platform for artists and crafters to exhibit their work, but serves as a fun community event that involves an art exhibit by local students and is interactive for children.

According to Kathleen Yasas, Committee Chair, the festival will be held under rain-proof tents with live music. Having invited approximately 200 artists from across the state to participate, attendees should expect to see a range of art from pottery and fine art to handmade soaps, dolls, etcetera.
