CHENANGO COUNTY – Heavy, damp snowfall followed by freezing temperatures made for treacherous driving conditions Tuesday afternoon and evening, resulting in a number of accidents along county roadways even into this morning.

According to the City of Norwich Emergency Operations Center, accumulated snowfall differed greatly across the county – depending on elevation – and some areas saw as little as an inch of snow, while others reported upwards of six inches of snowfall. The subsequent freezing temperatures, however, were the primary concern, according to authorities.

The Chenango County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center reported the following accidents Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday morning:

• At 12:50 p.m. on County Road 9 in the Town of Coventry, emergency personnel out of Coventry and Greene – assisted by Cooperstown Medical Transport – responded to a one car accident with no injuries reported.

• At 12:59 p.m. at the intersection of state highways 206 and 41 in the Town of Coventry, emergency personnel out of Coventry – again assisted by Cooperstown Medical Transport – responded to a one car accident with no injuries reported.
