DVD Patrol

Let’s start 2013 off with a bang, Patrollers! The DVD Patrol is here to start the new year with what else? The Toddster’s favorites of 2012. Some of the choices might be a little surprising but with so much coming out. It was a hard one to make choices on. See if you agree with what we came up with.

5. Safe (2012) - Sometmes doing what’s right is never an easy thing. Luke Wright (Jason Statham) used to be a former cop but decided to leave to be an MMA fighter. That life is never an easy thing and when he’s asked to throw a fight, Luke takes a stand and wins the fight. This puts him in trouble with the Russians and they make an example of him by murdering his family. Now if he gets close to someone, they will be in danger. Luke goes on for a long time staying away from everyone until he meets a young girl named Mei (Catherine Chan). It seems Mei is very good with numbers and now she has a code that has made her the target of the Chinese Triad, some corrupt NY cops, and the same Russians that Luke has had trouble with. Luke sees she’s in danger and he takes a stand to protect her. Will Luke be able to save her?

4. The Amazing Spider Man - As the Toddster always says, a new take on an old story isn’t always a bad thing. Peter Parker (Andrew Garfield) was sent to live with his Aunt May and Uncle Ben (Sally Field and Martin Sheen) at a young age. Pete’s Dad was a scientist who developed a new type of genetic coding that some people want and now the Parkers have become a target. Years later, Peter’s parents have disappeared and Peter has found some things left by his Father. An old colleague of Peter’s dad named Curt Connors (Rhys Ifans) may have some answers and when Peter goes to visit him at his lab, Peter gets bitten by a spider with some special properties. This gives Peter some new powers. At the same time, Peter gave Connors his Father’s material and has used it on himself. The process has also changed Connors into a Human Lizard who want to turn the citizens of New York into a being like himself. Can Peter ,with his new powers, going to be able to save New York?
