RSVP presents educational seminars for seniors

NORWICH – The Chenango County Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) will be presenting five educational seminars for anyone over the age of 60 during the coming months. These programs will be held throughout the county thanks to a grant from the Norwich Youth Philanthropy Council. Each educational session will contain three topics of interest to the senior population and will be presented by professionals in that field.

The first of the five-part series will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 13 from 12:30 to 4 p.m. in Sherburne at the Grace Manor Apartment Complex Community Center, Knapp Street. Doors will open at 12:30 with the first presentation “Financial Issues Particular to Seniors” starting at 1. Examples include wills, reverse mortgages, and more. The presenter for this important topic will be Crystal DeMarco, Senior Associate with First Investors. From 2 to 4 Dorothy Gardner, United Health Service Stay Healthy Senior Coordinator, will be presenting both the second and third topic of the day which are “Steps to Staying Healthy” and “Safety on the Road” including driving tips and ease of driving as we age.
