EOH Galleries open two new exhibits

EARLVILLE – Meet the unique individuals showing their work at the Earlville Opera House Arts Center on Saturday, from noon to 3 p.m. Come help celebrate their fascinating exhibitions: “New York Landscapes: Prints and Paintings” featuring cityscapes in both oil paintings and monoprints by KellyAnn Monaghan and “arroyo” an installation of video sculpture by Sterz. Each artist uses a quiet industrial landscape and the ethereal impact of nature in those moments to make us keenly aware of ourselves.

In the East Gallery, Sterz will captivate audiences using video sculpture, sound and movement. The installation “arroyo” includes 13 large Mason Jars of ice, melting gradually into clear bowls placed directly under alluring, diamond-like crystals. The viewer can sit quietly in contemplation or physically interact with the containers, coming into contact with the dripping ice. When the ice melts entirely, 13 jars hang from the ceiling like ghosts. The remaining bowls of water evaporate until nothing is left.
