OXFORD – As members of Oxford’s Class of 1991 gather this weekend for their 20th class reunion, there will be one classmate who will be there, not in person, but in spirit.

John Lobdell, a 1991 graduate of Oxford, passed away three years ago after a lengthy battle with colon cancer. His memory lives on, however, in the hearts of his family, friends and classmates – many of whom will participate in a golf outing Saturday.

Proceeds from the event, the third annual Brody/Mason Fund Golf Tournament, will benefit a scholarship fund created in Lobdell’s memory for his two sons, Brody and Mason.

Ensuring that the two boys are able to attend college in accordance with their father’s wishes has become something of a mission for two of Lobdell’s longtime friends, Tim O’Brien and Nathaniel Emerson. Over the last two years they, with the help of another classmate, Matt Mayhew, have succeeded in raising over $20,000 for the cause.
