Youth Hunter Scholarship Awarded
Published: December 24th, 2010

NORWICH – At the onset of 2009, and in honor of the legacy of the late George R. Genung, Jr. as an avid woodsman who hunted since his boyhood for sporting enjoyment as well as food for the table, The George R. Genung, Jr. Youth Hunter’s Foundation was established with the expectation that we’d be able to support the advancement of young hunters in a marvelous quest for safety and excellence in the sport.

Carol Ann Henderson, President of the George R. Genung, Jr. Youth Hunter’s Foundation, is pleased to announce the foundation’s first bi-annual award of $1000 to Matthew Yacano for his promise as a Chenango County youth hunter. Because of his contentiousness as a safe hunter by education, the guidance of his family, and above all - good practice, along with his ability to harvest food as an upstanding sportsman, and his promising bright future as a responsible young hunter, Matthew Yacano has been given this grant to further his interests in the field. Many thanks go out to all the very generous people who readily supported the ideals of this foundation honoring young hunters with the quest for excellence in this chosen sport a greater opportunity to excel in their endeavors.
