Gibson students pitch in for earthquake relief

Students at Stanford Gibson Elementary School in Norwich are doing their part to help the Haitian people recover in the wake of the 7.0 earthquake which rocked the island nation in January. They did so by collecting hygiene items. According to school officials, the students succeeded in filling 120 complete hygiene kits, and 159 partial kits. The donated items will be delivered to the Broad Street United Methodist Church, and from there will travel to the Wyoming Conference Center in Endicott to await distribution to Haiti. The students also collected $51.25 in loose change for relief efforts in Haiti, which will be donated to the American Red Cross. Representatives from each Gibson classroom are pictured above with the donations they collected.
