OXFORD – A defensive adjustment in the second quarter lit a fire under Oxford, who turned a once tight game into a blowout by the end of the third quarter.

The change to a one-three-one zone defense confounded the Wildcats, who finished 9-for-44 from the field. “We were able to get some easy baskets in transition out of our defense,” said Oxford coach Tim Davis. “Once we made the switch, Hancock really struggled.”

By contrast, the Blackhawks hit 52 percent of their shots (28-for-54) led by Cory Seiler’s 19 points. John Wonka had a season-best 10 points, while Booker Davis and Zach Barry also netted 10 points apiece. Every player on the Oxford roster had at least one basket, the first time that has happened this season.

The Blackhawks play at Harpursville Saturday afternoon.
