Boil-water order causes Guilford school closure

GUILFORD – Guilford Elementary School students had an unexpected day off today, due to a boil-water order in the hamlet of Guilford where the school is located.

According to Guilford Town Clerk Gail Hoffman, the town was notified at approximately 6:30 a.m. on Sunday that some hamlet residents were without water and others were experiencing low water pressure.

While service was restored later that day, when the valve determined to be the root of the problem was repaired by Water Superintendent Jeff Fuller, a boil-water order must remain in effect until testing is completed, the town clerk reported.
