New Berlin Youth Days plans in full swing

NEW BERLIN – In anticipation of New Berlin’s 48th annual Youth Day Celebration Aug. 27-30, one of its sponsors, NBT Bank, is offering presale wrist band at the New Berlin branch.

The bank is also taking nominations for New Berlin 2009 Citizen and Youth of the Year at the site. The wrist bands will be good for the midway rides Saturday afternoon Aug. 29 following the Youth Days parade, sponsored by New York Central Mutual Insurance and the Gates-Cole Insurance Agency.

“We’re asking everybody to buy one even if they don’t use it. All of the proceeds will go to Youth Days,” said committee member Brian Burton.

The presale $12 wristbands will cost $15 if purchased on the days of the event and individual tickets for rides cost $3 a piece.

“A lot of the kids that come can’t always afford to go other places. We want to draw in families no matter what their economics are. Everyone needs to be a kid. Also that weekend there are usually a number of class reunions and other events get scheduled. It’s a weekend when there are a number of people coming home to the area,” said New Berlin Youth Days Committee President Larissa Hanslmaier.

Staying true to making the event for all kids, Burton, who is also the New Berlin NBT branch manager, said the bank along with the Preferred Mutual Insurance Company and New York Pizzeria are sponsoring free midway rides from 6 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 28.
