Two nabbed in city drug bust

NORWICH – The City of Norwich Police Department, with the aid of New York State Division of Parole, searched the home of a parolee Tuesday morning, discovering crack cocaine stuffed in a mattress along with several other illegal drugs.

After searching his residence at 9:13 a.m. Tuesday, police charged 28-year-old Kevin J. Dunmire of 29 Court St., Apartment 1B, Norwich, with third degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a B class felony, for allegedly having seven packages of individually wrapped crack cocaine hidden inside his mattress. He was also charged with fourth degree criminal possession of controlled substance, a C class felony, for allegedly having possession of 7.1 grams of psychedelic mushrooms. Dunmire was charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a misdemeanor for allegedly having several smaller quantities of other illicit substances, including six ecstasy pills, powdered cocaine in a shirt pocket and prescription anxiety medication, Alprazolam. Dunmire was also charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, a violation.
