Police search for suspect in Edmeston NBT robbery

EDMESTON – A man walked into the NBT Bank branch on West Street in Edmeston on Tuesday morning and passed a note to the teller that demanded she hand over an undisclosed amount of money.

The New York State Police and the Otsego County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene shortly after the robbery, which according to surveillance cameras, was at 9:05 a.m. Police said the suspect had lingered outside of the entrance for a period of time prior to the robbery.

Captain James E. Barnes of New York State Police said the suspect displayed no weapon and was last seen on foot traveling east on state Rt. 80.

Police released the following description of the suspect: white male, approximately 6’3”, 200 to 240 pounds, with a mustache and black hair. The suspect was wearing a forest green Carhart style jacket, with an attached hood, with a hooded sweat shirt underneath and a black baseball hat.
