NORWICH – A Connecticut man was arrested last week for criminal possession of cocaine and after being remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility, officers discovered he was passing drugs from inside his jail cell.

Undersheriff Ernest R. Cutting reported that corrections officers discovered that 29-year-old Thaddeus L. Singleton III of Connecticut had managed to smuggle a quantity of cocaine into the jail only a few days after he had been charged with criminal possession.

Singleton was arrested May 10 in the Town of Norwich and charged with seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. Officers discovered a small plastic bag containing powdered cocaine on Singleton while he was in his jail cell a few days later.
