Gilbertsville hosts Quilt Show at Major's Inn

GILBERTSVILLE – This weekend is set to be a monumental one for the 14th annual Major’s Inn Quilt Show, which will feature more pieces and more artists than ever before.

This year’s creatively woven colors feature the theme “Fantasies of Fabric” and the quilts will again adorn the walls of the Tudor-style architectural jewel, The Major’s Inn, in the Village of Gilbertsville, located along Rt. 51.

Organizers for the Major’s Inn Foundation fundraiser, CeCe Rowe and Diana Heeman, said this year’s show will feature 260 handcrafted pieces from dozens of artists. Last year’s show exhibited 180 pieces.

“It’s the most we’ve ever had. Year after year it gets bigger and bigger. We used to go looking for participation, but now people are calling us asking to be in the show,” said Rowe.

Rowe and Heeman, who are members of the Inn’s foundation, started the first quilt show in 1994 and have helped to steer the program every step of the way.
