Unadilla Valley 3, Unatego 0

NEW BERLIN – Unatego overcame an early two-goal deficit forcing the Storm to net a tying goal late in the game to force a deadlock in Tuesday’s matchup.

Storm senior Hannah Johnson connected from 25 yards out with 12 minutes remaining in a topsy-turvy battle. “It was a well-balanced game and both teams had plenty of scoring opportunities,” said UV coach Chris Bieniek.

UV gained control with two goals in the opening 20 minutes. Senior Amanda Peek tallied at 4:38, and Amanda Tumilowicz added a goal at the 20-minute mark.

Unatego’s Theresa Guardiano initiated a three-goal sequence for the Spartans 40 seconds after Tumilowicz’s goal, and Sarah Mannina tied the game. Ashley Mannina found the net from 30 yards out giving the visitors a one-goal edge entering halftime.

Greene 6, Walton 3

GREENE – Greene righted itself after two losses at the S-E Tournament getting a hat trick from senior Megan McDermott in Tuesday’s victory over Walton.

“We moved the ball well and did some good work on the field,” said Greene coach Randy Smith. “We moved some people around, and that helped.”

McDermott bent in a cornerkick at the 12-minute mark for the first goal, the only Greene tally that did not have an assist. McDermott scored nine minutes later, and after a Walton goal, McDermott had her hat trick by halftime getting a feed from April Small.

Small, Chelsea Pornbeck, and Margaret Gilroy had second-half goals for Greene (1-2).

Sidney 2, Norwich 0

NORWICH – After an uneventful first half in which it seldom got good looks at the goal, Sidney broke the ice nearly eight minutes into the second half, and went on to blank the Tornado Tuesday.

Dani Gravel scored at 32:06 after a Norwich turnover, and Brittany Schunk added an insurance tally with 12:52 remaining on a long-range shot. “Our defense did a good job of holding up Sidney’s offense most of the game,” said Norwich coach Jeremy Bolton. “(The defense) got the ball up the field, but our midfield is still inexperienced and had trouble keeping up the offensive pressure.”

Norwich (0-1) plays at Johnson City today.

Summary

COPES CORNERS – G-MU trimmed its goals-against substantially, but was unable to find the net in a second straight shutout loss this season.

Shannon Mish scored on a crossing pass from Shelby Fraser 15 minutes into the second half for Laurens’ lone tally. “It was definitely an improvement over our first game, especially since we didn’t have a practice over the weekend,” said G-MU coach Kristen Bradbury. “We worked more on controlling the ball and improved our passing.”

The Raiders play at Edmeston Friday.
