Man gets three years on coke charges

NORWICH – A Norwich man caught with four ounces of powdered cocaine worth over $6,400 was sentenced in Supreme Court Friday.

Shane M. Manwarren, 16 Hayes St., Norwich, pleaded guilty to third degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance, a class C felony, in April. He was sentenced to three years in a state prison and three years post-release supervision. Manwarren also waived his right to appeal in the plea arrangement.

Manwarren has been incarcerated since his original arrested by Sheriff’s deputies following a traffic stop in December. Police recognized Manwarren, who was operating the vehicle, and recalled that he had a suspended license.
