Chenango musician goes digital with an Internet release

McDONOUGH – Chenango County musician Tom Rasely has released his latest album this week, but not in the way that most people are used to. “Shifting Sands,” a new collection of 18 original contemporary Christian songs, has been released in a downloads-only format on musicdock.net.

The songs included in this album were all written between 1979 and 1994. Some of them, according to Rasely, “have never seen the light of day. Some of these songs I never even sang for my wife. They were just written and tucked away in a file folder.”

With the advent of computers and the internet, composer/guitarist Rasely decided to take some of these older songs and record them. “Just to see what they sounded like,” says Rasely. The result was an album’s worth of quality songs.

“It is also unusual that I am singing again,” says Rasely. Known primarily as an instrumental guitarist, Tom’s music has been heard all over the world, as well as all across Chenango County. In the early 1980s, Rasely toured 26 states and Canada singing his original contemporary Christian music.
