Sherburne uses fast start to roll past Norwich

Sherburne 20, Norwich II 4

NORWICH – Sherburne erupted for seven runs in the second inning to coast to a blowout victory over Norwich II.

After a four-run first riddled with Norwich errors, Sherburne sent 11 men to the plate in the second scoring seven more on the strength of Derrek Ferris’ base-clearing triple. Kory Rice followed up Ferris’ three-bagger with a run-scoring single.



Ferris pitched three innings for the victory getting two innings of relief help from Jobi Gage. Mike Wilson had two doubles in a 3-for-4 day scoring four runs to pace Sherburne.

Ferris and Cory Musician finished with two hits, and Gage had three runs scored.

Grant Brightman and Joe Bazarnik were credited with ribbies on the Norwich II side.

Norwich I wins two

NORWICH – Norwich I’s Otsenango Pony League team grabbed a pair of wins over Oxford this week winning the first game on Monday, 10-3, then rallying for a 12-11 victory on Tuesday.
