Purple Tornado’s top grads

NORWICH – Norwich High School has announced the names of the two seniors who ranked first and second in this year’s graduating class.

Laura Cammarn, daughter of Stephen and Tavane Cammarn of Norwich, is the Class of 2008’s Valedictorian. She plans to study music education in the fall at Bowling Green State University in Ohio.

While in high school, Cammarn was involved in various musical organizations. She was a member and co-president of the marching band, treasurer for the choir and a member of concert band. She took part in the annual school musical for five years and was the current treasurer. “My favorite role was Ronnett in Little Shop of Horrors,” she said.

The valedictorian danced with the Donna French school for 12 years and is a member of the Broad Street United Methodist Church youth group.

As for her advice to younger students, Cammarn said, “Get involved. Let the school be more than just in-class education.”
