Village of Sherburne receives grant for energy efficiency

SHERBURNE – As more and more attention is given to energy efficiency efforts, the Village of Sherburne is hoping to lead by example, starting with their own municipal buildings.

According to Mayor William Acee, the Village applied for a grant that would provide money for energy efficiency updates in several municipally owned buildings in Sherburne. On Monday, Senator James Seward’s (R-Oneonta) office announced that Sherburne will receive the grant for $25,000.

The grant, administered by the New York Power Authority will not be funded with tax payer dollars. The funding for the grant will be provided from the Petroleum Overcharge Restitution funds, and will be used to make energy efficiency improvements to the municipal offices and electric building.

“Jim Seward lent big support to this project,” Acee said. “He was really helpful in obtaining funding for this.”
