Otselic Valley elementary to present Sleeping Beauty

GEORGETOWN – This weekend, The Otselic Valley Elementary School will hold their production of Sleeping Beauty at the elementary school in Georgetown.

Fifth and sixth graders will present their third annual elementary school production to a sold out crowd at 7 p.m. Friday night. A second performance will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday in the elementary school gym.

Art teacher Mary Helen Blake, Music Teacher Winnie Sortman, Librarian Julie Hammer, Fifth Grade Teacher Lori Youngs and the rest of the fifth and sixth grade teachers have been working with the students to produce the entirely student run production of “Disney Kids Sleeping Beauty.” Students will play goons, fairies, kings, queens, mops, brooms, buckets, an animal chorus, loyal subjects, the evil Maleficent and of course Prince Phillip and Sleeping Beauty (Princess Aurora). In addition, every fifth and sixth grade student participates in one way of another. Students who don’t have acting roles participate as sound technicians, members of the stage crew or by making programs and tickets.
