BOCES librarians honor Knapp

NORWICH – The DCMO BOCES School Library System named Norwich High School Principal Thomas Knapp its 2008 Administrator of the Year in a ceremony at the Cansawacta Country Club Friday.

In nominating Knapp for the award, Norwich High School Librarian Erika Kwasnick wrote, “When Tom says his door is always open, he means it. He is always ready to hear concerns and suggestions for improvement and has never decided against what was best for the library ... Tom’s impact reaches far beyond the walls of the Norwich High School library. He has developed and implemented fair and consistent discipline procedures for all students and has been a key figure in the implementation of the school’s character education plan and recognition ceremonies. He maintains a high standard of professionalism for himself and expects the same from every other adult in the building. That being said, he also isn’t afraid to throw on a purple wig and field hockey skirt at a Purple Pride Picnic. I’ve seen him get his groove on at the Prom on more than one occasion, sit with a student at lunch who would otherwise be alone, and extend himself to those in need in countless ways.”
