CHENANGO COUNTY – New York Regional Interconnect’s impact on the state’s electricity system and overall energy reliability was brought into question last week by the state’s grid operator, officials confirmed Thursday.
The New York Independent System Operator (NYISO), a federally regulated organization that operates the state’s wholesale energy market, voted narrowly not to accept NYRI’s “System Reliability Impact Study” during a meeting of its Operations Committee May 22, according to NYRI representatives and unofficial reports. The study was not accepted for reasons related to NYRI’s “technical analysis,” unofficial reports claim.
