Bryan White to headline Norwich's July 4 celebration

NORWICH – Country singer Bryan White will be this year’s headline performer at Chenango County’s 4th of July celebration.

“We are excited to have such a high caliber artist and performer headlining this year’s show,” said event organizer Terry Potter.

The festivities kick off in the early afternoon at the fairgrounds. The Place, the Norwich Career Firefighters and Potter’s company, Millennia Entertainment, are collaborating to bring an array of new activities for all. Admission is $5 and free for children under 7.

Community readers and volunteers are still needed for the Family Fun Zone, Potter said, which offers a variety of special children’s characters and an arts and crafts section.

New this year will be a “Chenango Idol” singing competition. The ‘Idol’ competition will feature 20 singers, ages 18 and over, competing for a chance to win a grand prize. Participants will be chosen on a first come, first served basis and space is limited. To sign up, call Potter at 316-2870.

Amidst the food, the midway rides and a return of the hot air balloon launch, firefighters will be on hand for the annual fireworks display at dusk, followed by Bryan White’s headlining performance at the grandstand.

White entered into the country music scene in the mid 1990s with a string of six number one singles. His website states that the media and the industry alike “noticed the genuine singing talent behind the good looks and passionate performances that earned Bryan a host of awards.”
