Norwich 12, Susquehanna Valley 4

NORWICH – Norwich rebounded quickly from an opening shutout loss to Chenango Valley powering past Susquehanna Valley Wednesday.

Tim Clark pitched four innings of relief for his first varsity win. He struck out five and did not walk a batter. “We started a little rocky, but we calmed down and played error-free the last four innings,” said Norwich coach John Martinson.

Mike Moon went 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI triple in the fourth. Mackay Hotaling added two hits and an RBI double in the sixth. “We just seemed more relaxed at the plate,” Martinson added.

Norwich hosts Sidney today in a non-league game.

G-MU 17, Otselic Valley 2

SOUTH OTSELIC – G-MU’s offense caught fire in the third inning, and a 10-run sixth ensured the Raiders an opening-game win over OV Wednesday.

Tim Sloan pitched six innings for the win, and Chris Lanza along with Luke Acanfora had three RBI apiece. Peter Schmidt added a 2-for-3 day at the plate for G-MU. “It was a pretty good game for a while, then our pitching kind of ran out of gas,” said OV coach Dave Loomis. “We struggled in on the mound and in the field after the third inning, and we made a number of miscues we need to correct. G-MU is a good team and it was a good non-league test.”
