Greene 55, Whitney Point 31
GREENE – Greene gets a much-anticipated rematch in the Class B playoffs with Chenango Valley this Saturday after blowing out Whitney Point in its first-round playoff game Wednesday night.
Barb Borst had nine points in the first quarter and led the Trojans with 15. Utilizing a full-court press, Greene (19-2) jumped out to a 34-12 halftime advantage. “They were running the clock down on every offensive possession,” said Greene coach Bill Case. “We went to the press to speed the game out, and it worked out pretty well.”
Borst not only led Greene in scoring, she was assigned Whitney Point’s top scorer Amanda Materski on defense. Borst held Materski scoreless through three periods when reserves made their entry.
Lizzy Buhl added 10 points in the win, while Liz Wentlent picked up eight points, five assists, and three steals.
