NORWICH – A milder than usual January has the ice at only 6 inches thick, so the annual fundraiser for the Oxford Lions Club will be postponed until Feb 16 which was originally scheduled for Feb. 2.
The derby will run from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a $1,000 NBT Bank cash prize for the first registered fisherman catching a 2008 tagged perch. Blueox Corp is offering a $500 prize for the second tagged perch. In addition, if the first tagged perch is caught by an angler who has pre -registered, he or she will receive an extra $200. The angler hooking the largest Perch of the Day will receive a $150, from Richard Polgar, DMD PC of Oneonta.
Registration will be $5 on the ice, the day of the event. Pre -register by Feb. 9. for only $4 and you will be eligible for the extra $200. Forms are available at Mayhood’sMayhoods Sporting Goods in Norwich, Hoppies in Oxford and on the Oxford Lions web site, www.oxfordlions.org.
