NORWICH – The Nor’Easter that was expected to slam Chenango County with up to a foot of snow over the weekend, dumped significantly less than was originally anticipated. Although a wintery storm did drop between five to eight inches of snow on parts of Chenango County, the one to two feet that some meteorologists predicted were happily not seen this weekend.
“The storm was a bust in terms of snowfall,” said City of Norwich Emergency Management Officer A. Wesley Jones. On Friday, Jones had explained that if warm air moved into the area, the accumulation could take the form of sleet or freezing rain instead of snow. “That’s exactly what happened,” Jones explained, saying that if Sunday’s rain and sleet had taken the form of snow, there would have been a lot more accumulation.
