Vikings win in overtime; S-E field hockey topples Hamilton

SOUTH OTSELIC – Playing its second overtime game this week, the Vikings had the upper hand this time around beating Stockbridge Valley Wednesday.

Eric Wentworth headed in a crossing pass from Troy Rasmussen at the 5:07 mark of the second overtime for the game-winning tally.

OV trailed early in the game, but received a tying goal from Landon Rasmussen late in the first half.



“Stockbridge Valley played much better than the first time we played them,” said OV coach Dave Loomis.

OV (7-6-2) plays at DeRuyter Friday.

Field Hockey

S-E 3, Hamilton 1

SHERBURNE – Sherburne-Earlville scored two goals early in the second half to defeat Hamilton Wednesday for its 11th win of the season.

Karli Harris put S-E (11-6-1) on top at 24:50, her 22nd goal this season, and Courtney Kurtz added the final tally just 2 1/2 minutes later. “We had relaxed at the end of the half, and they scored in the final minute,” said S-E coach Sheila Cooman. “We came out and played much better in the second half, and took control of the game.”
