Oxford 3, Greene 1

GREENE – The third meeting was indeed the charm for Oxford, who avenged two earlier losses this season to the Trojans on Wednesday.

Scott Seiler added two more goals giving him 32 for Oxford this season, and Taylor Bates opened the scoring for the Blackhawks 9:19 into play. “They were more aggressive to the ball and took advantage of the 50-50 balls,” said Greene coach Rick Tallman. “They flat out wanted the game more than we did.”

Greene got on the board late in the first half cutting the count to 2-1 after Anthony McDaniels’ goal. The momentum was short-lived, Tallman said. “We came out and were controlling play early in the second half,” he said. “We couldn’t seem to get a good shot off, and we started to get discouraged. We broke down from there. Oxford beat us to death with through balls splitting our defense, and we didn’t respond.”
