SHERBURNE – Representatives from various levels of government met with local organization leaders July 27 to discuss building tourism throughout upstate New York.

Sherburne Wheeler President and delegate for Region 7 of New York State Off-highway Recreational Vehicle Association Inc. Lex Danyluk, his wife and secretary Donna, and member Dara Arnister met Friday July 27 with Executive Director of New York State Power Dealers Association Bob Ski, Regional Representative for Governor Spitzer’s office Kevin McCabe, Town of Sherburne Supervisor Harry Conley and Village Trustee Bob Smith.

Throughout the hour-long meeting topics covered included expanding a trail system for all terrain vehicle riders into Norwich and Edmeston. The Sherburne Wheeler club currently rides a circular loop system trail and hoped to present its expansion of it to local and state officials.

Expanding the system would mean more ATV owners would want to register their vehicles here and take advantage of a trail system. “In turn these riders would be spending their money locally and would help to promote lodging, dining and other small businesses in the county,” the group said.
