Chenango County Public Works Department:

• Contractors have completed excavating the 3-acre deep site at the Pharsalia Landfill for Cell 3. Officials said the liner is set to be installed this week. The expansion is projected to cost about $2.5 million. The new cell should handle the county's waste disposal needs for seven years.

• County supervisors last week authorized public works officials to accept a $51,000 bid to make repairs to a leaking roof at the Chenango County Highway Garage on Rexford Street in Norwich.

• Upgrades and maintenance issues are also being addressed for the Brisben Transfer Station.

Chiarino’s Insurance Agency:

• Justice Construction has begun the foundation masonry for a 400 square foot addition and new facade to this Broad Street business in Norwich.

• The work will be funded in part via a 50/50 match with the New York Main Street Program administered by the Norwich Business Improvement District. The program allows up to $10,000 per project.
