Sherburne’s Music in the Park gears up for 18th season

SHERBURNE – Sherburne Rotary’s Music in the Park is back for its 18th season of free concerts in Gaines Park on Wednesday evenings from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The concert series will run every Wednesday from July 11 through Aug. 15.

“It is hard to categorize the overall season, other than to say there is not a concert which deserves to be missed,” said Marsha Guzewich of the Sherburne Rotary. Four new groups will be performing in Sherburne this season, including Red Molly, Gandalf Murphy and the Slambovian Circus of Dreams, First Class and Rani Arbo and Daisy Mayhem. Familiar favorites like Woods Tea Company and the Smyrna Citizens Band will be returning after several seasons.

The Sherburne Rotary Club has brought this concert series in for 18 years, and many people know what to expect. Spectators should bring their own chairs or blankets, and many arrive early to get great seats and wait for the french fries to come out of the fryer. Children are welcome and many families bring picnic fare or purchase food from the Rotary Booth, which will feature homemade pie and ice cream from Gilligan’s. There are no rain dates. In the case of a downpour, the concert will be moved indoors.
