OXFORD – The Village of Oxford will be adding a creative gem to its downtown this summer.
The grand opening for the new non-profit performance venue, Six on the Square, will be on June 28 and the public will be invited to view the labors of the last few months. Among those included will be the efforts of renowned regional artist Walter Gurbo of Gilbertsville.
Gurbo has volunteered his time and resources to paint the interior walls and ceilings at no cost; ordinarily such work from the artist would have cost thousands of dollars.
“When you walk in the door and head to the rear of the venue, you will be enveloped in the whimsical, abstract designs Walter has created across the walls,” said steering committee member Nancy Morey.
Also featured will be a beautiful stained glass piece made by Peggy Finnegan for one of the front windows of the space.
