Youth Bureau announces summer programs

NORWICH – The City of Norwich Youth Bureau will hold registration for its summer programs from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, June 6 at the City Hall Youth Bureau Office. Programs are open to residents of the City of Norwich and Towns of Norwich, North Norwich, Preston, Plymouth and Pharsalia free of charge. Registrants from other areas will be charged $32 for one event, and $16 for each subsequent event. Children missing three or more consecutive classes may be dropped because of limited enrollment space. The programs are:

• Swimming lessons - for ages 5 to 20 at the Kurt Beyer Pool, 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Monday through Friday. The first session will be held from Wednesday, July 2 to Friday, July 20. Registration for the second session, which will run from Monday, July 23 through Friday, August 10, will be held Friday, July 20 at the Kurt Beyer Pool.



• Guard start - a life guard starter course will be offered from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. for six weeks, beginning on July 2 at the Kurt Beyer Pool. Those interested should see Noreen at the program sign-up for more information.

• Competitive swim team - ages 8 and up, will be held from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday at Kurt Beyer.

• Playground - open to children ages 5 to 9. Two sites are available. At the Norwich Middle School Playground, children will be able to have playground time from 12 to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, beginning on July 2 and running through August 10. The site is limited to 30 children.
