Church opens resource center for single parents

NORWICH – Being a parent is no easy job. Being a single parent is even harder. One local church recognized the struggles many these parents face and decided to offer services to inform single parents about the various programs designed with them in mind.

First Baptist Church members in Norwich set up a committee to organize an office that would be informative for single parents. By investing time to work with non-profit organizations such as the Department of Social Services and Opportunities For Chenango, the idea to open a single parent center was born.

It took nine months to get the program organized, and Reverend Susan Polizzi explained it was time well spent. An open house took place April 30 to gather together the various programs that are included with the parish’s center called “Caring Options.”

Since the grand opening a week ago, Polizzi says they have already seen an interest in their services.
