Car goes over the wall at Eckerd's

NORWICH – Tuesday morning the Norwich Fire Department responded to a parking lot mishap which resulted in an elderly woman being taken to the hospital.

Ruth Matteson was taken to Chenango Memorial Hospital for minor injuries. Matteson was going to leave the Eckerd parking lot, but apparently put her black Subaru Legacy into drive rather than reverse. The car lurched forward over a curb through some light shrubbery and then collided with a brick wall about two feet high with a metal fence running across the top of it.

YIKES even if it where in reverse at that speed she would have made a new drive through.

This further shows why some elderly need to have their driver's license either taken away or they have to retake the driving test again to see if they are competent enough to drive still. Most accedents lately have been with the elderly behind the wheel and less of the inexperienced teens.
