Arts Council plans 6th Allegro race

NORWICH – In music, “allegro” means fast. That’s what the Chenango County Council of the Arts is hoping everyone will be when they participate in the sixth annual Allegro Run for the Arts on Saturday, May 5. This year runners will once again be able to choose between 2 races: the traditional 5 mile course and, for the second year, a new 5K course that starts on the usual Allegro route, continues through the City of Norwich on a flat course and then loops around to rejoin the traditional Allegro for the finish line.

“We received a very enthusiastic response to the addition of the 5K”, said Race Committee Chair Susan Marson, “Adding that option really opened up the field and we had our largest number of runners yet.”

Both races begin at the Council of the Arts, 27 West Main Street, Norwich at 9 am. Race day registrations will be accepted from 8 until 8:45 a.m. Entry fees for each race are $15 up until race day and $20 the day of the race. Each runner will receive a commemorative T-shirt.
