Norwich helps usher in a new “Golden Age”

NORWICH – The Golden Age Apartments have all but had the finishing touches put on a nearly $1 million structural improvement project that began last summer.

With financial assistance from Liberty Affordable Housing, a non-profit agency that helps retain affordable living in communities across the state, Golden Age’s two complexes and 100 apartments received two elevators, new carpeting wall-to-wall, new hot water systems, new air conditioners, re-done bathrooms, vinyl windows and new appliances, among other additions.

Building managers took time Thursday to thank their residents, Liberty Housing and local officials for their support during a luncheon in the remodeled Golden Age community room.

Golden Age’s residents say they’re more than pleased with upgrades.

“ I love it,” said resident Elsie Voorhis. “Everything is really nice. I love my new stove – this is just wonderful.”
