Oxford stages "High School Musical"

OXFORD – This weekend the Oxford Academy Drama Club proudly presents a high school musical called ... “High School Musical.”

“The play is modeled off the Emmy Award-winning television film of the same name and was one of the most successful Disney Channel original movies produced,” said Co-Director and Middle School Band Director Jaclyn Viscardi.

“High School Musical” is a story about two high school students from very different social circles realizing they share a passionate love for music and singing. “Despite others’ attempts to thwart their dreams, Troy and Gabriella (the main characters) persist and inspire others along the way,” Viscardi said. The band director started her involvement in the drama club last year by helping Mike Moren direct “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown.” Moren has directed several shows and is also the co-director of this weekend’s performances.
