Suspect in stabbing incident still at large

SMITHVILLE – The Chenango County Sheriff’s Department is still looking for a man who stabbed his bother during an argument on Oct. 9 in Smithville. Terry L. Sturdevant Jr., 19, is wanted by the sheriff’s department for allegedly stabbing his brother in the lower back and then fleeing the scene when police arrived.

“We’re pretty sure he fled to the Pennsylvania area. We’ve been in contact with the Pennsylvania authorities, but so far they haven’t turned up anything,” Lt. James E. Lloyd said. Police suspect Sturdevant quickly fled the county after the altercation and has remained in Pennsylvania since.

The stabbing took place in the Town of Smithville. The victim was treated by Greene EMS at the scene and was taken to Wilson Hospital, where he was later released.
