S-E Drama Club Presents “Acting Up!”

SHERBURNE – The S-E Drama Club is at it again preparing their annual fall production consisting of an evening of one-act plays to be presented Oct. 27 & 28 titled “Acting Up!” The show features 11 ten-minute one-act plays with students directing five of them.

The student directors, Justine Cameron, Ellen Fagan, Liz Foster, Joe Mettler and Justin Utegg, are getting first hand experience at what directing really entails. They were responsible for choosing their one-act play, they decided how auditions should take place and ran the auditions, and then they were part of the casting decision process. They are also responsible for include making decisions on lighting, sound cues, costumes, props and set. This year, one student director, Joe Mettler wrote his own play entitled “Any Minute.”

“This the fourth year that I have had student directors. It seems to work well and gives the students a feel for what it takes to direct. It gives them a new perspective,” said drama club director, Colleen Law-Tefft. “It’s exciting because I have an incredibly creative group of students this year, so my job involves nurturing that already budding creativity!”
